De overgeslagen beloften<\/h2>\n

De Formule 1 is niet voor elke jonge coureur het einddoel van zijn carri\u00e8re, maar wel voor heel veel. Maar naast de paar honderd talenten dan wel rijkelijk van fondsen voorziene jongelui die het hoogste niveau daadwerkelijk bereikten, zijn er nog veel meer die het niet hebben gehaald. Welke beloften werden over het hoofd gezien, maar verdienden desondanks een kans? DF zet tien topcoureurs op een rij met geen enkele GP-start op hun naam.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Hoe de Formule 1 de afgelopen jaren ook is veranderd, het blijft elk jaar voor vele tieners en twintigers het goudgerande streven<\/a>: meedoen in de F1, Grands Prix winnen en hopelijk ooit eens (of vaker) wereldkampioen worden. Makkelijker is het er niet op geworden. De weg naar boven liep ooit langs een overzichtelijke ladder, maar is nu een helse klimwand met tal van doodlopende zijpaden<\/a>. En toch blijven ze het proberen.<\/p>\n

Het zit verstopt aan de top<\/h2>\n

Coureurs als Toine Hezemans, Klaus Ludwig en Steve Soper waren eigenlijk uitzonderingen met hun bewuste keuze voor raceauto’s met een dak boven hun hoofd. Want verreweg de meeste toppers die nu succesvol zijn buiten de F1, hebben eerst hun geluk op die klimmuur beproefd. En als je bijna het dak kunt grijpen\u2026 klim er dan maar eens op. Want het zit verstopt aan de top.<\/p>\n

Terwijl dankzij het huidige testverbod in de F1 de premie op ervaring verder is verhoogd, waardoor coureurs als Barrichello en Trulli een schier eindeloze reeks GP-deelnames aaneen kunnen rijgen, zijn er in de afgelopen jaren vele talentvolle tanden stukgebeten op pogingen om ook maar \u00e9\u00e9n keer in een GP van start te gaan. Daar komt bij dat beloften die in deze crisistijden geen hulp krijgen van een juniorprogramma of een rijke vader, al bij voorbaat kansloos zijn.<\/p>\n
