Wat in het vat zit…<\/h2>\n

Een Nederlandse wereldkampioen komt er voorlopig niet aan, maar dat neemt niet weg dat we bij DF graag willen weten hoe onze jonkies ervoor staan. Wat gaan onze formuletalenten in 2011 doen? Waar loopt de argeloze circuitbezoeker de kans om na afloop het Wilhelmus te horen weerklinken? En wie is er afgehaakt in de race naar de top?<\/strong><\/p>\n

Een paar maanden geleden zette DF de aanstormende Nederlandse talenten in de monopostoklassen<\/a> op een rij. Want nu Jos Verstappen, Robert Doornbos en Christijan Albers voor de nieuwste generatie liefhebbers alweer bijna krasse knarren uit een jong verleden zijn, mogen we wel weer eens worden verwend met nieuwe formulesuccessen op de circuits van Europa en de rest van de wereld.<\/p>\n

Van een heel rijtje jongens van tussen de 13 en 25 spraken we onze verwachtingen uit, na afloop van een seizoen met wisselend succes. Wat zijn hun plannen voor 2011? Over Robin Frijns<\/a>, Stef Dusseldorp<\/a> (die de monoposto\u2019s verruilt voor FIA GT1) en natuurlijk Giedo van der Garde<\/a> kwamen we al met afzonderlijke berichten. Nu voegen we het nieuws over een paar anderen er meteen bij (inclusief een meisje!), al zijn de plannen voor bijvoorbeeld Yelmer Buurman (opnieuw Superleague?) en Kelvin Snoeks (opnieuw F2?) nog niet bekend.<\/p>\n

Robin Frijns: FR2.0 Eurocup en GP3<\/strong>
\nEerst nog even verder over Robin Frijns. Die werd namelijk geselecteerd voor de Young Driver Excellence Academy van het FIA Institute. Een interessant initiatief van de internationale autosportbond, gericht op talenten die geen financi\u00eble steun genieten van een juniorprogramma, een suikeroompje of een rijke (schoon)vader. Niet alleen circuittalent, maar ook jonge rallycoureurs dongen mee naar een plaatsje in het programma, waarin ex-F1-coureur en Peugeot-fabrieksrijder Alexander Wurz de begeleiding doet.<\/p>\n

Twaalf plaatsen waren er te vergeven. Twee gingen er naar Nederlanders \u2013 niet geheel ontoevallig voor een land dat vrij ver van het epicentrum van de autosport afstaat en waar coureurs enorm veel moeite moeten doen om sponsors te vinden. E\u00e9n plaats was er voor Kevin Abbring, volgens velen Neerlands grootste rallybelofte sinds mensenheugenis. De ander was voor Robin Frijns.<\/p>\n

Robin wil dit jaar met steun van de FIA een dubbelprogramma doen. Het eerste is al in kannen en kruiken: de Renault Eurocup voor Formule Renault 2.0, onderdeel van de World Series by Renault. Frijns rijdt voor het team van Kaufmann, waarmee hij in 2010 ook het Europees kampioenschap Formule BMW won. Tijdens de tests van gisteren op Paul Ricard was Robin de allersnelste van de 34 deelnemers. Hij hoopt nog op een parallelprogramma in de GP3, maar het team dat hij op het oog had (Manor) zit inmiddels vol. Gelukkig zijn er nog genoeg teams met plaatsen vrij.<\/p>\n
